Infographic: The top 10 soft skills employers seek

If you are looking for a job, you should definitely know the most sought-after soft skills by the companies. But first we should explain the difference between skills, soft skills and hard skills.

Skills are defined as the capability to apply or use a set of related knowledge and abilities required to successfully perform your tasks at work. They can be divided into two main groups: soft skills and hard skills.

Hard skills are teachable abilities that can be quantified. Typically, hard skills can be the knowledge you learn during your studies, your job, reading books or a variety of training materials and activities.

On the other hand, soft skills are subjective and very hard to quantify. They can be defined as the personal competences that are part of a person’s personality and/or are a result of the experiences a person goes through. They are born from the interaction with others and they are usually related to the concept of emotional intelligence. Therefore, soft skills are career attributes and they are needed for all jobs regardless of the field.

Nowadays, as the number of candidates grows (not to mention that a lot of them have quite a similar academic profile), the key to a proper recruiting process lies in revealing the inner competencies. In the infographic below you will find the top 10 soft skills employers seek when it comes to hiring the right employee:
